COVID-19 Update & FAQ
As of March 16, all Leeds and the Thousand Islands Public Library branches are closed in accordance with the State of Emergency issued for the province of Ontario in response to the COVID-19 virus. All programs and library services are cancelled.
No programs, on-location services, or events will be at this time at any branch location. All building access has been closed to the public including booked spaces through the library or township. More info can be found at the 1000 Islands Township website concerning scheduled bookings.
We are working towards providing support in the community as much as possible during this closure. Here are some frequently asked questions and answers.
Are there any library services I can use from home?
All our online services are still available during this time and can be accessed from anywhere there is internet access by using your library card. Here is the list to available resources and free learning tools for all ages:
How should I return the items I have checked out?
Please do not return your books, movies, audio-books, or any other materials during this time. Hold on to them until we reopen at which point we will arrange for materials to be brought back. All materials currently checked out will be automatically renewed with no late fees accrued during our closure. Our book drops are locked at this time.
What if my holds were ready for pickup?
We will contact you with a time to pickup any materials in a safe drop spot for curbside pickup. If you have not heard from us or are looking for more reading materials please call our Lansdowne branch at 613-659-3885 Monday to Friday. Leave us a message with your name and contact number when possible.
My library card is going to expire. How do I renew?
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your card number and name the card is issued to. We will renew the card for you as soon as possible.
What if I don’t have a library card? Can I get one online?
Yes! Please fill out the form found here and we will register you a 60 day digital card to use with our online services.
Can I still use the WiFi/internet at the library?
Yes, by bringing you own device. Our WiFi is accessible from outside Lansdowne, Lyndhurst, and Seeley’s Bay from the safety of your vehicle while in the parking lot or spots available. Please us the “LA-PUBLIC, LY-PUBLIC, SB-PUBLIC” connections with your library card, family members card, or friends card number! Please call us at 613-659-3885 and leave a message if you are having issues and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
