Volunteer

Volunteers play an important role at our library. Our volunteer policy outlines the policies and procedures. For anyone interested in volunteering please submit an application and submit it to the library. Visit our Volunteer page for more details »

Adopt-a-Book

Please adopt-a-book for the library. Purchase a book from the list below and save up to 40% off the book store prices. You will be the first patron to read your donated book and a donation plate will be placed in the book. You will receive a receipt for your donation.

Donate Books and Other Materials

Leeds and the Thousand Islands Public Library gratefully accepts new or used books and audio-visual materials. Your library resources have been enhanced over the years through the addition of many useful donations. A dedication/presentation bookplate may be placed inside the donated material at your request.

We welcome your donations with the understanding that these materials become the property of the library to be used at our discretion. Donated items are added to the collection, sold at our annual book sale for fundraising, or recycled.

Leeds and the Thousand Islands Public Library will be very happy to accept the following materials in new or gently used condition:
  • Hardcover and paperback books (adult, children's, fiction & nonfiction)

  • Current magazines especially featuring crafts, gardening, home decorating and cooking

  • Music CDs, Audio Books, Videos & DVDs in original case

  • Local History materials

We cannot sell dated, discoloured, damaged, musty or mildewed items at our book sales. Our experience tells us that the following items do not sell well:

  • Reader's Digest condensed

  • Harlequin romances

  • Older encyclopedias

  • Incomplete sets

  • Textbooks

  • Computer books more than 2 years old

  • Most magazines more than 1 year old

New & used donations may be dropped-off at any time. We maintain small, permanent book sale spaces in each branch. Thank you!

Planned Giving

Please consider leaving a lasting gift to your library and the community. Your giving options include wills and bequests, memorial or celebration gifts, annuities, life insurance, trusts and gifts of property or assets. A special lifetime donation to your library ensures your generosity benefits your family and community well into the future.

In-Memory or Special Honorariums

Remember loved ones or special moments by donating and designating a book or other resources to the library. Dedication plates may be added if you wish. Please contact us for further information.
